Every published listing passes a title eligibility check, then receives a listing score from 0 to 100. Branded and salvage titles are blocked. Factual claims must trace to source data, records, photos, or seller disclosure.

VIN intelligence
PleaseStart uses the VIN to fill in specifications where they’re available. Sellers can’t change those facts, and they fill in any the VIN didn’t provide.

Service records
Service records are optional, and uploaded receipts aren’t shown on the listing. Buyers can message the seller to ask for records.

Smart photo checks
Photos are sorted by angle and checked for digital watermarks. Suspected watermarks need review before publication.

Factual description + score
CurateAI writes anti-hype prose and grades the listing 0–100. A score below the publication bar holds the listing for improvement instead of publishing it.

The listing score

0–100, weighted by evidence quality

Every score is built from Documentation, Photos, Transparency and Presentation, plus an adjustment for photo-angle coverage. Sellers see their breakdown and improve it by adding photos and disclosures; buyers see the total and can filter search by it. Buyers can sort search results by date, price, mileage or year. Listings must meet publication requirements, and the score also affects review. A listing that scores below the publication bar is held with improvement suggestions instead of being published — a hold the seller can work through. The score measures the listing's information, not the car's mechanical condition, and it doesn't replace your own inspection.

Points per category

  • Documentation up to 40
  • Photos up to 29
  • Transparency up to 20
  • Presentation up to 5

Together, the four categories give up to 94 points. Photo-angle coverage then adds up to 30 more or takes away up to 21, and the score never goes below 0 or above 100.

What we won't list

Our rules prohibit these listings. Automated checks flag known title issues, marketing language in descriptions and watermarked photos; buyers should independently verify ownership and vehicle history.
